The colourful ombre flats are now finished and so I helped to move these flats into a larger space so that we would be able to stand them up together as they shall be stood on the filming day.
Whilst moving them into the new room, I numbered the backs so that when being put back up they would be put back up in the correct order and fit together alright.
We started to mark out the floor with tape, so that we would be able to achieve the correct lay out, using the design drawings and floor plan to take the measurements to lay out on the floor, we also started to mark out the location of the carpet so that we will be able to see where it shall be laying.
With 5 of the flats up we noticed that two of the flats have a gap between them, to problem solve this I suggested that we place one of the lattices in front of it, to hide the worst of it.
(The gap)
After this we got the 5 flats currently finished up together in the space.
After finishing putting up the flats, I moved onto glazing the prize table, making sure not to over work it as this can cause the glaze to turn cloudy.
Once I finished glazing the table I moved onto help paint the sides of the lattice gold, before then helping to go over the gold paint on the front of the lattice to make sure it was all covered.
Once done I was asked to paint the side of the triangular ombre piece, one of my fellow students had already taped off the section,
However there was purple paint down the side, and as I had to paint over this with red, I then had to sand this down first,
Before moving on to adding the rosco red which matches the bottom red colour in the ombre. Throughout the day I kept coming back to add layer upon layer of red to this side to give an even and vibrant coat to it.
Once done I was then asked to paint the inner pieces of the wings, with a white emulsion coat, this is as the audience may be able to see these even though the camera wont, and the person who was priming did not have long enough arms and was not tall enough to reach some spots.
Whilst I was priming I also primed the TV screen cover with the white emulsion, This had previously been done, however needed to be refillered and after being sanded needed another coat.
Once dried I then gave the cover two coats of gold paint, making sure they were thick and evenly coated, for this i used a roller as it gives a smoother and move even finish.
Once dried I then moved onto glossing the cover to finish it off, I used a brush for this as the base that had been done by someone else the gloss had been done with a brush and so to keep the continuity I felt using a brush was better.
Once done I helped to coat the final lattice with gold paint, using a roller as the other had previously been painted with.
I then cut sheets of gold foil ready for another student to use on the lattice fronts to add texture and excitement to the flat surfaces.
I feel that today I did a lot of odd jobs and bounced around a lot as there were only small jobs left to be completed.
