Date - Monday 20th March
Hours in - 10a.m. - 5p.m. (7hrs)
Job - Maker
10a.m. - 12p.m.
Met with design team and were briefed on the design decisions that have been made so far. Talked through the design as a team and helped to finalise the choices further. After this we went a checked out the flats we shall be using to take note of anything that may need to be fixed and which boards need more work before we are able to work onto them.
12p.m. - 1p.m.
After being informed by the Maidstone students that they also require a bigger game spinner for their production, we sat and brainstormed ideas, however, the spinner they provided as an example wouldn't work as when held up the spinner would always stop pointing down. We came up with other possible ideas and styles that would work better and would be more suitable to the requirements of it.
(able to be seen by the cameras and audience)
1p.m. - 1:15p.m.
Cleaned off a light strip that in a previous project had been painted blue with a water based paint, it came off easily.
1:15p.m. - 5p.m.
Tested paint samples for colours to produce ombre effect on walls.
Using Rosco super pigmented paint me and a fellow student sampled different colours, using different parts water to paint, also mixing different colours together, before painting them onto piece of MDF that we had painted white emulsion over.
Roscopaint spectrum red 5977
Roscopaint supersat purple 5979
Roscopaint leather lake 5993
For the ombre effect we mixed a base colour which was 1 part leather lake, 1 part spectrum red, to 6 parts water
We then one end mixed together an orange colour which was 1 part spectrum red, 1 part leather lake and 3 parts water
for the other end we mixed 1 part spectrum red, one part supersat purple and 4 parts water
on top of this we used mixtures of 1 part spectrum red to 1 part water, 1 part super sat purple, to 1 part water as well as 1 part leather lake to 1 part water to highlight colours, we also used diluted emulsion to give a lighter gradient in the centre.
