Professional and Collaborative Practice - Maidstone

Date - Friday 24th March
Hours in - 9:40a.m. - 4p.m. (6hrs20mins total)

9:40a.m. -2p.m.
I started today by peeling the paper off the piece that had been spray painted yesterday, before moving onto prepping the next section for spraying, however one of the other students was picking up the paint along with other materials on the way in and so I had to wait before being able to spray.

However once it had arrived I was able to move on with spraying the sections, this took a lot of time as I had to do each section individually and needed to be very careful when removing the tape from previously painted areas.

I also spray painted the other side of the two back braces for the game board.

I also covered the block of the arrow pointer and sprayed the arrow gold.

As I found in some places that the tape had peeled off pieces of paint, I had to go back and touch up places, I found that the paint was taking a long time to dry, I believe this is due to the room being rather cold, and the paint marked easily when anything touched it, however this is only really noticeable from up close.

(Paint peeled off by tape)

2p.m.-4p.m.
The order of wood arrived and I helped to bring in the wood and stack it.

Once the pieces were dry and all painted up, I then took a gold paint pen and drew in gold lines between the two colours to give the sections boarders and neater edges, as well as give the piece a more professional finish.

>>

Once all the golden lines were drawn on, I then took a template another student had drawn up of a star and sprayed on a golden star in the centre of the middle face piece to give an attractive game show like finish to the board.

I then used the same pen and drew around the star to neaten the edges.

For the pegs around the board I used the paint pen to colour them gold, as it would have taken much longer to colour these with spray paint or paint.

Once dried, I then attached the Lazy Susan bearing to the backboard and the face, before gluing on the front circle to the face.

I then glued on the arrow pointer.

(Progress so far)

Next week I need to screw the block to the board to give it strength, glue on the back braces as well as cut out the numbers for the wheel and attach those (we plan to cut them out of mount board spray them and glue them to the board )
